IPL/Laser hair removal uses proven technology, many clients report great results, and it’s available now at our conveniently located Bristol treatment centre. Indeed, the use of lasers for long-term hair removal is probably one of the best-known uses of laser technology.
How laser hair removal works
A laser hair removal system removes unwanted body hair through selective absorption of intense light pulses at wavelengths designed to be absorbed by the targeted hair follicles, but not the surrounding tissue. As the light pulse is absorbed, it is converted to heat that destroys the follicle. Laser hair removal is suitable for almost all parts of the body:
Facial laser hair removal
Bikini line hair removal
Body hair removal from the legs, arms and neck
Back hair removal
And as you would expect, there’s laser hair removal for men and women alike.
Different laser systems
Different laser systems include Ruby lasers, Alexandrite lasers, Nd:YAG lasers, and Diode lasers such as those used in the Alma Lasers Pain-Free, Hair-Free system we use.
The Pain-Free, Hair-Free system uses proprietary technology and the sweeping motion of the laser to safely and gently heat the targeted area of the patient’s skin. Claimed to be one of the most comfortable such treatments, some sources have likened this relatively painless hair removal process to having a hot stone massage (another indulgence that you can enjoy when you visit us). The UK British Association of Cosmetic Doctors (BACD) website reports that there is some suggestion that the diode has specific advantages when treating specific hair colours and skin types.
How many sessions are needed?
Typically, laser hair removal clients face the cost of between sixand eight treatments (starting at £35 a session) to significantly reduce the number of regrowing hairs. Your Treatment Rooms laser therapist can give you more information.
A thorough consultation and patch test are required before treatments can commence in order to ensure you are compatable with IPL/Laser. It enables us to rule out any contra-indications such as medications and skin type. Although IPL/Laser treats most skin types there are some exceptions. The treatment is more suitable on a paler skin with dark hair (skin types 1-5). Unfortunately IPL/Laser is not safe to use on Afro Caribbean or darker Asian skin (skin type 6).
At The Treatment rooms, laser hair removal is just one of the beauty and spa treatments and therapies we offer. Being so close to Bristol’s Centre, we’re in an ideal position for individual clients or groups of friends who just want to relax and be pampered.
